Hungry Artists: Katie Robinson

It’s time to meet our latest Hungry Artist, #PizzaFam! Katie Robinson is an incredible artist and fellow supporter of our CBJ fam. Swipe to check out some of her awesome work, and read on to hear from the artist herself!

“I was raised in a pretty artistic house — my mom graduated with a fine arts degree. My brother also does art, so a lot of my art background comes from just constantly being surrounded by it. I started doing the sports-specific art in high school and really fell in love with the different feel of it, in comparison to more ‘traditional art.’ I tried a goalie helmet (Marc-André Fleury) and absolutely loved trying to capture its coloring and designs. That’s where it all just fell into place for me.

A lot of my inspiration comes from pushing myself to do something I haven’t done before, and I really think that genuinely shows in my art as you see the progress I’ve made. I started with the goalie helmet, then got more detailed and tried different angles and styles. Eventually I got brave enough to try a full face, and then a really large piece (the Roslovic/Kuraly/Sillinger piece).

The last year and a half has been about how much I can challenge myself to create something better than before. The support that I get inspires me to keep going. The way people, especially the players, receive the art has been phenomenal and really fun, and a sort of added bonus. So I guess this is a small thank you to those who have reached out and said any kind words regarding my art, because at the end of the day, you are the ones that inspire me to keep putting it out there!”

Thank you for sharing your art with the world and the #PizzaFam, Katie. We can’t wait to see what you create next!
